This Storymap first makes an explanation of astronomy in the age of Al-Andalus and how it was intertwined with astrology and often other professions as well. It then goes on a tour around five prominent cities and discusses an astronomer from the 10th-13th centuries associated with each location, including their life, astronomical accomplishments, and legacy. Several selected played a role in stepping away from Ptolemy’s model of the universe during the period of cultural isolation that began with the fall of Cordoba, but the way in which each contributed remain distinct.
